  • John D. Leekley, Chair

    John D. Leekley, Chair

John Leekley first met Henry Uihlein in the late 70's while working in his father’s law office in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He had a hand in drafting the foundation documents and obtaining the IRS’ approval of the foundation’s charitable status. John kept in touch with Mr. Uihlein during his regular visits to Milwaukee and later by visiting him in Lake Placid or Indian Wells, CA. John oversaw the administration of Mr. Uihlein’s estate after he died in 1997 (at 101 years of age) and the funding of the foundation and he has served as trustee continuously since then. John retired from his law practice in 2012 and now divides his time between his two daughters in Seattle and Tucson.

  • Former Trustees

The Foundation would not be where it is today without the hard work and dedication of former trustees William Wotherspoon, John McKenna, and Eleonore (Ellie) Wotherspoon.  John and Bill were first appointed at the suggestion of Mr. Uihlein.  Ellie was appointed at the same time as James McKenna to overlap with and succeed their fathers (who are now deceased).  After eighteen years as Trustee, Ellie resigned to pursue other interests. Together, their wisdom and counsel guided the foundation and ensured its future.
