Heaven Hill Farmhouse
Built in 1840 by Horatio Hinkley, the farmhouse at Heaven Hill Farm has witnessed almost two centuries of history with six owners prior to the Uihliens’ ownership.
Heaven Hill Farmstead, owned by Anna Newman circa late 1870s.
One notable and longstanding owner was Anna Newman, who purchased the farm in 1876 and as an independent female farmer established herself as a philanthropist and generous benefactor throughout North Elba. Read more about Anna Newman here.

Today, Heaven Hill Farm’s history and legacy lives on as the home of the Henry II and Mildred A. Uihlein Foundation. Keeping the Uihleins’ vision for their land in mind, collaborations at Heaven Hill Farm are abundant. The farmhouse is used as an event and conference center, available for nonprofit organizations to use at no cost, and to date has hosted over 35,000 visitors. The spectacular scenery with open vistas of the agricultural fields and High Peaks beyond create an inspiring atmosphere and a very popular location for nonprofits to gather for meetings, staff retreats, or fundraisers. The farm is also widely enjoyed by local and national artists alike, who come every year to capture the beauty of the place and paint en plein air, meaning to paint outdoors. The abundant flower gardens and fruit trees on the grounds provide endless artistic inspiration and are proudly maintained as a lasting tribute to Mid Uihlein’s memory.
