Uihlein Farm
In 1961, Henry and Mid Uihlein donated 317 acres of land to Cornell University School of Agriculture, establishing The Uihlein Farm of Cornell University. In 2020, Cornell University transferred this land to the Uihlein Foundation. The Foundation's trustees manage the land in accordance with the Uihlein's vision.
In 2022, the Foundation recognized a unique opportunity to further Henry Uihlein's passion for winter sports. The potato warehouse was renovated and became the headquarters for the 2023 Lake Placid FISU Winter World University Games, and now serves as the home of the Adirondack Sports Council and Lake Placid Sinfonietta.
The Ausable Freshwater Center (AFC) now uses the former laboratory building for its Water Quality and Biodiversity Research programs, and the adjacent greenhouse is part of AFC's Ausable Conservation Nursery. Learn more about this exciting partnership with the AFC here.
The Foundation is developing a site plan to optimize the use of its buildings and land. This will support local and regional nonprofit partners' operations and programs while ensuring the long-term viability of the physical and built environment.
